Book Review: I Can't Get to Sleep by Frank Rodgers

Bedtime in our house is rough. I work part time as a cashier and am often not home till well after 10. Sometimes my son wont go to bed till I get home. This is despite the many efforts of my husband to get him to sleep. So when I saw this book on *Netgalley I thought it sounded cute and right away requested it.

The book tells the tale of a little boy who is having a hard time sleeping. One by one the members of his family come to try and help him. They tell him stories of things like pirates, bears, rhinos and elephants. But each story effects his dreams and he can't sleep. But all it takes is his bear to help him finally sleep.

This book was cute. I loved that in the end it was the bear that helped him sleep. My son has a bear that he has had since before he was born. He goes to bed every single night with it. It's his security blanket.  The book definitely reminded my of my son with his constantly telling us that he can't sleep.

I loved the illustrations in the book. Soft colors perfect for bedtime reading. My son's favorite drawing was the very last one of the boy asleep with his bear. My son did really well with this one and seemed to enjoy it. He did ask about the use of the word "mum" instead of "mom" or "mama" or "mommy".

Both my son and I agree that this is 5 out of 5 stars.

*I received a free copy of this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion
**This book was read with my special needs son who is severely learning disabled. The review reflects not only my opinion but his as well
